Abstract

The aim is here to understand how Antoni Tàpies (1923-2012) and Antonio Saura renewed the art and to grasp from what constraints they must break away to reach more freedom and authenticity in their artistic creation and establish a new contract of reception. The analysis of their creative process will be to show that the informal painter not only negates the form but he also aims to get rid of the constraint of the image rejecting it for the creation of a new pictorial space. The study will show that, while having the same intentions, the two artists have a different approach. Therefore, Antoni Tàpies empties the space for the matter to predominate, producing a painting without image, while rather for Antonio Saura the images are the basis for destroying them.
