Conjuguer révolution, avant-garde et audace. Le cas de Franz Seiwert
Abstract
Although daring is traditionally described as a disposition of brave hearts or an impetus of reckless souls, this quality could actually come from another source. At least, this is what can be inferred from the theoretical and plastic production of the anarcho-communist artist Franz Wilhelm Seiwert, who sought, through it, to nourish the revolutionary spirit of the inter-war period. Studying this artist will thus allow us to define and even redefine the outline of audacity, while determining what it can bring to the construction of a new social order. In doing so, we will discover a little-known work which is yet in many ways emblematic of the struggles waged by the contemporary avant-gardes, whose watchword was precisely audacity.
