Expression de l’intime et interculturalité dans la poésie de Guillermo Carnero

Abstract

The Spanish poet Guillermo Carnero (Valencia, 1947), elevated to the rank of emblem of the Novísimos poets from the publication of his first collection Dibujo de la muerte (1967) has published eleven collections to date, until the latest, Carta florentina (2018). In this spiral work, which is based on the setting in motion of the cultural referent thanks to the convocation of the referential universes of the poet, in articulation with the language expression of a distant intimate, the amorous “speech”, both sensitive and reflexive, occupies a preponderant place. This intimate, which stems from a dynamic culturalism (culture in motion), was initially read by critical reception as going beyond social realism in poetry, which it was in fact. It is based on a fragmentary construction, whether it is about the articulation of the collections between them or that of the poems and their own structuring, according to a referential weaving which is constituted in a linguistic topology suitable for elaborating the dialogical relation between culture (mobilizing the cultural referent or symbol, such as water and the garden) and the expression of intimacy. Moving away from the romantic narration, the poet gives the intimate reading through distance, which allows the emergence of the relationship thanks to various strategies such as cultural transfer, the rewriting of the myth, the poet creating his own mythology, or the creation of new fragments conducive to highlighting the ambiguities of an elusive poematic speaker through the summoning of sensitive or intellectual doubles. This dynamic of the cultural referent, which renews the discourse of love in a completely contemporary way, unfolds according to another modality in the relationship it allows to establish with the reader, dear to the Novísimos poets.
